Connectting to Real VNC 4.4.3 Personal

When I try connecting via Real Vnc 4.4.3 I recieve this error message via "No configured security type is supported by 3.3 viewer." Please update the viewer to the latest one.

Most of the time when a server is disconnected from the VNC Listener by unknown issues I get the following popup

Register Computer dialog

Every time I add a new computer and include logon credentials I think of posting to the forum but since I am busy I forget. The tab order seems backwards. If I enter a name in the "User Name" textbox, a tab should take me to the "Password" textbox not the stored templates. Since I can't use tabs to flow down through the complete dialog just eliminate the stored templates as a tab stop.

Just nit picking. Sorry.

Overall this has really become a very polished product, one that you all should feel very proud. I know I surely appreciate it.

Discovery

I haven't used discovery in some time but since SSH is now a part of the package I decided to try it again. I tried a scan selecting just SSH. The scan caught just a few of the SSH servers. I selected RDP, VNC and SSH and PING and discovery found all the rest of the SSH servers. I tried again and got different results.

The "Global Settings" is somewhat circular. If I create a NEW discovery I can have the radio button for use global. Global doesn't mean global in some sense since many things aren't used. Scan group, Inheritance???. I think there should be some discussion on the logic here. It becomes very confusing.

Discovery has crashed many times.

Why can't discovery select the connection type based on discovery instead of using the default?

Observations.
SSH client doesn't seem to fail when connection doesn't connect. I use SSH on another port. If I try connecting on port 22 I end up with a black screen but it doesn't fail the connection since sshd isn't listening on port 22.

Any chance that you will be adding port forwarding for ssh. ;)

I don't know how feasible this is; but I find less 'artifacting' with uvnc viewer and unvc server than with the built-in vncviewer and uvnc server. As a work around I've enabled the ability to launch an external vncviewer via the external tools options; however I lose the ability to capitalize on the stored username passwords. Anyway that an external vncviewer could be tied to ctrl-q and still maintain the usage of stored usernames and passwords?

Since all versions of VMware can use VNC to control the Guest how about adding a management part that would keep track of the ports, username and password that get added to the VMX file. It could generate the the three lines that need to be added to the vmx file. It would be a manual process but absolutely simplify the process of keeping track of port numbers and passwords. I outlined the lines that need to be add in Tips and Tricks.

Time out avoidance

I have noticed using certain tools that if the workstation does not respond, it does not give up. One of these is the "execute remote command" I wanted to execute a command on all workstations. So I selected all the workstations and ran the "check VNC/RDP server status" From this I sorted with the ones that "were alive" by ping. I then selected all these workstations and ran the Execute Remote Command. I started running against three workstations and the froze up. I have also noticed this on only doing only one workstation. If it can not run the remote command, it freezes up and I need to kill the task and restart the manager.
I have noticed with with other commands, so it would be nice if the manager would just give up after a time and return control back to the manager.

Portable

How about a portable version. It doesn't look like there is much stored in the registry. This is an application so well suited to portability. Being able to carry a USB drive to the data center rather than a laptop would be lovely.

Focus after new computer registration

I am using ver 4.5.2. The problem is after I register a new computer, I will click on the ping or some other built in tool. Instead of pinging just the computer I created (which is gray highlighted), it proceeds to ping every workstation in the group. I have to make a conscience effort to click on the workstation (so it is blue highlighted) after the creation, then click on the tool I want to run.

If the focus can be changed to the newley created computer after registering it would be great.
